Abdullah Kintu Criticizes Government Neglect, Partners with KCCA FC fans for Kawempe Slum Cleanup Initiative

Date:

Frustrated by the government’s continued neglect of public sanitation duties, particularly in the urban division of Kawempe, Ugandan activist Abdullah Kintu took matters into his own hands. In a bold and inspiring move, Kintu partnered with KCCA FC fans to lead a volunteer-driven community cleaning and hygiene initiative in the slums of Kawempe, bringing much-needed relief to the overlooked area.

Kintu openly faulted local authorities for their failure to maintain public spaces, leaving residents to live amidst uncollected waste and deteriorating sanitary conditions. “The urban division has a responsibility to ensure these communities are clean and safe, but they have fallen short of their duty,” Kintu said. “This neglect cannot continue, and it’s time we step in and do what is necessary for the people of Kawempe.”

With support from KCCA FC fans, Kintu organized a team of volunteers to sweep streets, unblock drains, and educate residents about maintaining a healthy environment. The partnership with KCCA FC fanatics extended beyond financial backing, the company also deployed its staff to join the cleanup efforts on the ground.

“This isn’t just about cleaning; it’s about reclaiming dignity for a community that has been left behind,” Kintu emphasized. “Kawempe deserves better, and until those in power take action, we will continue to stand with the people.”

Residents were moved by the initiative, witnessing their streets and neighborhoods being transformed by the hardworking volunteers. The cleanup effort not only addressed the immediate hygiene crisis but also sparked hope in the hearts of many. “We are deeply thankful to Abdullah and his team for showing us that we matter,” said one resident, as children played in freshly cleaned areas.

The success of this effort underscores Kintu’s broader vision for a more engaged, responsible, and active citizenry. “We cannot wait for help that never comes. If we want change, we must be that change ourselves,” Kintu concluded, inspiring many with his commitment to community-led transformation.

As Kintu continues to push for social justice and better living conditions in Uganda, his leadership in this initiative is a clear reminder that grassroots action, fueled by determination, can bring about meaningful change where it’s needed most.
