Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, the acting president of the forum for Democratic Change(FDC), has called upon party members to remain united even after the party primaries.
Ssebugwawo made the remarks while launching campaigns for the party presidential flag bearer race that started yesterday in Kampala.
“We are here not to fight each other and we have decided to have joint campaigns so that we can remain united. You heard what has been happening in other parties and we don’t want it to happen to us,”she said.
The race is between party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat and party national chairman, Wasswa Birigwa, who both promised to transform the livelihoods of Ugandans if they take the highest office in the land.
Speaking to FDC supporters, Amuriat urged them not to wither but utilise the forthcoming national campaigns to mobilise for regime change.
Amuriat vowed to straight away employ the ‘Defiance’ philosophy once given the flag.
“We go into this election to bring an end to democratic, economic, social and moral decadence. You all know my dear friends that our country is on a nose dive as far as the economy is concerned,”he said.
Birigwa promised to increase citizen’s access to financial aid once he is entrusted with the country’s top most office.
“To begin even with given the situation we are in due Covid-19, each household will be given Shs 100,000 per month for the next six months as soon as I become president of this nation,” Birigwa said.
He also promised to improve education system which he said it got rotten a long time ago.
“We are going to have an education that is paid for by the government and I believed we should not have an education system where children study under the mango tree like our fathers used to,” he said.
