Uganda’s death toll due to COVID-19 has surpassed the 100 mark, after the country registering two deaths in Kiryadongo district on October 24, 2020.
According to the Ministry of Health, results of tests done on October 24, confirmed the two deaths and 146 new cases.
This brings the total number of deaths to 101 and cases recorded, out of the 536,177 tests done so far, to 11,443.
The breakdown of the 146 new cases is as follows; Kampala (63), Jinja (16), Kiryandongo (11), Wakiso (10), Mukono (7), Kibuku (5), Masaka (5), Mityana (8), Bulambuli (3), Gulu (3), Luwero (2), Mubende (2), Tororo (2), Bundibugyo (1), Bunyangabu (1), Iganga (1), Kabarole (1), Kaliro (1), Kamuli (1), Kyenjojo (1), Manafwa (1), Mbale (1).
The Ministry of Health and Community Health Academy-Last Mile Health, in partnership with Makerere University, recently launched an e-learning platform to address the knowledge gap in the management of COVID-19.
The director of clinical and curative services at the health ministry, Dr Charles Olaro, said the online digital platform will provide education and training for health workers on COVID-19 management.
Some of the courses available on the health ministry Capacity Building app include surveillance, laboratory testing, infection control and prevention, community engagement, case management guidelines, mental health, and psychosocial support.
