We finally bought a cooker we’ve been saving for, for a few months now. Babe has always wanted a bigger cooker i.e four gas plates and two electricity plates plus an oven.
I’ve been doing some window shopping as I save up so recently we had the money to finally get it. I started contacting all the guys I’d talked to during the time I was saving. I chose one and asked they direct me to their shop. Namuwongo around Kisugu market they said.
So we reluctantly drove there.
The environment alone, had something about it that just didn’t sit well with us. We started thinking what if it has issues and we need to bring it back?
We had a thousand what ifs in our heads. We failed to locate the place even after 10 minutes of being on phone with the seller and we later gave up and drove off.
The next day I went to the next seller on Entebbe road from whom we bought the cooker. It’s was about 200k more expensive but for some reason I felt more secure and calm to pay that extra 200k.
The seller in Kisugu was selling at 2,250,000 and this one on Entebbe road was selling at 2,450,000.
I could have saved a cool Shs 200,000 that I was willing to spend for peace of mind and heart. I even found them out of stock but paid and waited to pick it the next day, that’s how confident I was. Something about the seller just made it so easy for me to trust them.
Another time a friend got a client from the USA who was here to do some research work. For some time I had been telling him that where you locate your office is key.
He didn’t see why we rented at Ham Towers expensively for smaller space. He said the money we paid could could get us three times more space elsewhere.
That is why he had his office around Kalerwe.
When the clients went there to talk business they never went back. The environment was just not the kind that was impressive for that nature of clientele. He ended up moving and relocating his office after that incidence.
Reality is when clients move into your business, the first few seconds are for determining whether they get to do business with you or not based on what they see and feel being around your premises. Do they feel like they can trust you?
Do they feel safe? Do you leave them asking themselves several questions in their minds? These are things many don’t pay attention to but clients do. Does your business inspire trust and confidence in a client?
This goes down to how you present yourself.
I love cooking and in cooking any nice cook worth their name will tell you food presentation is everything. Before people taste your food with their mouth they’ll do so with their eyes and that actually contributes a lot to the actual taste of the food.
So know that presentation is key right from the way to talk to a client to how you dress and present your business.
Make sure your business inspires trust and confidence in those who want to do business with you. No one knows you are trustworthy or genuine until they get to work with you but until then give them a reason to take that gamble on you.
