The Uganda Police Force has raised the Entebbe murder reward to Shs 60 million in a bid to accelerate the arrest of suspects linked to the killing of David Mutaaga (69) and his wife, Deborah Florence Mutaaga (62). The couple’s brutal murder has shaken the Entebbe community and sparked calls for swift justice.
Police Spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma confirmed that the cash reward was initially set at Shs 50 million but has now been increased as investigations deepen. “We continue to search for those behind the murder of Mr. and Mrs. Mutaaga. We had earlier offered Shs 50 million, but this reward has now been increased to Shs 60 million,” Kituuma stated.
Authorities have circulated the photo and voice recording of one key suspect believed to be connected to the crime. However, Kituuma dismissed reports suggesting that police had already identified the perpetrators. He clarified that while investigative leads exist, conclusive evidence has not yet been established. “The Police will only release the full identities of the suspects once investigations confirm their involvement beyond doubt,” he said.
The double homicide has not only alarmed residents but also prompted heightened police activity in the area. Detectives are following multiple leads while urging members of the public with credible information to come forward and assist in the hunt.
Police officials stressed that the increased Entebbe murder reward reflects their commitment to solving the case and ensuring justice for the victims. The gesture is also aimed at encouraging more community members to share intelligence that could lead to arrests.
As the investigation continues, the Mutaaga family and the wider Entebbe community wait for answers, with security agencies under pressure to bring those responsible to justice.
