Hamz Cup Final Showdown at Nakivubo Stadium

Date:

The Hamz Cup final kicks off this Friday, December 19, 2025, under the lights of Nakivubo Stadium. Moreover, Kafumbe 1 will battle Arrows for the Shs50 million top prize in what promises to be an unforgettable match. Fully sponsored by Hajji Hamis Kiggundu, the tournament has quickly become a vital platform for young footballers across Kampala.

This year’s edition attracted over 40 teams from markets, taxi parks, and arcades throughout the city. In contrast, last year’s contest featured only teams from Hamz’s Arcades. Block G won that inaugural edition and took home Shs20 million from a Shs50 million prize pool. This time, however, organizers have doubled the total prize money to Shs100 million. Specifically, the champions will receive Shs50 million, runners-up Shs25 million, third place Shs15 million, and fourth place Shs10 million.

Hakim Kasirye, the tournament coordinator, shared his excitement ahead of the climax. “We are set for the final this Friday,” he said. “Forty teams took part. Hajji Hamis Kiggundu fully sponsors the event. Therefore, we’ll reward the best teams, the one that brings the most fans, and standout players. As a result, many participants have already moved into the topflight and Big League divisions.”

Kafumbe 1 reached the Hamz Cup final with speed, coordination, and attacking flair. On the other hand, Arrows advanced through disciplined defending and swift counterattacks. Consequently, their clash will test strategy, heart, and composure. Meanwhile, Pentagon and Kafumbe 2 will fight for third place—a match that still carries pride and a Shs15 million reward. Even though they missed the final, both teams remain highly motivated.

Nakivubo Stadium sets the stage perfectly for this grand finale. After major upgrades, the venue now boasts modern lighting, improved seating, and a vibrant atmosphere. Furthermore, organizers expect a full house on Friday night. Fans from across Kampala will gather to cheer, drum, and celebrate local talent. Because of this energy, the stadium will truly come alive.

More than just a match, the Hamz Cup final represents real opportunity. Hajji Hamis Kiggundu’s investment goes beyond money—it reflects deep belief in youth. In fact, scouts from top Ugandan clubs attend regularly. Several players from last year’s tournament now play professionally. Thus, for many on Friday’s pitch, this could be their breakthrough moment.

As the city counts down to kickoff, anticipation continues to build. Kafumbe 1 and Arrows carry not only team pride but also the hopes of their communities. Win or lose, they’ve already proven that passion and perseverance matter. Ultimately, the Hamz Cup final showcases football at its most grassroots—and its most powerful. Indeed, it reminds us that greatness often starts right here, on the streets of Kampala.

With talent, ambition, and community spirit on full display, this Hamz Cup final is more than a game—it’s a celebration of what Ugandan youth can achieve when given a chance.
