How Security Agencies Arrested Suspected Nsangi Women Killer

Date:

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, says that as police was interrogating Bwambale, other officers tracked Musiimenta’s phone and found it with Asuman Byaruhanga. He revealed that he had bought it from Ashraf Sekasi.

A joint security team has nabbed Ashraf Sekasi, the suspected mastermind of the murder of two women in Nsangi Sub County in Wakiso District along Kampala –Masaka highway. Mary Francis Nasazi and Dorcus Musiimenta are believed to have been raped before they were killed by unknown people on February 06th, 2020 and February 19th, 2020 respectively.

Musiimenta’s murder was recorded under CRB 088/2020 while Nasazi’s killing was registered vide CRB 121/2020. The murder of the two women triggered panic among residents of Nsangi and left community leaders and police scratching their heads.

Some of the residents thought the infamous 2017 murder of women in Nansana and Entebbe municipalities had arrived in their area. Police commanders led by Thomas Kasimo, the Commandant of Crime Intelligence, Godwin Tugume, the Commandant of the Flying Squad Unit and Kampala CID Commander, Bernard Muhumuza, dispatched a team to investigate the killings.

The investigators first suspected that the deceased’s spouses could have orchestrated their killings leading to the arrest of Musiimenta’s husband, James Bwambale. He became a prime suspect after his in-laws, said he had previously sent them a message asking them to counsel their daughter before he loses his cool.

Although Bwambale confirmed sending threatening messages to his wife, he denied masterminding her death. “I had disagreements with her [Musiimenta] but I could never kill her. I don’t know the people who killed her. I am innocent,” Bwambale cried out at Nsangi as he was being grilled by detectives.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, says that as police was interrogating Bwambale, other officers tracked Musiimenta’s phone and found it with Asuman Byaruhanga. He revealed that he had bought it from Ashraf Sekasi. Byaruhanga also revealed that he bought the phone through Wilberforce Ainebyona who brokered the deal.

Ainebyona was arrested and he mentioned Ashraf Sekasi. Police started monitoring Sekasi’s phone calls, which led to the arrest of Kasamba Mukitadiru.  According to Onyango, Kasamba led Police to Sekasi’s hideout, leading to his arrest.

Sekasi and his three co-accused have since been transferred to Kampala South regional police headquarters.

Cue out “…with his hammer”//

Sekasi claims he was tired of being rejected by women. Police said Kasamba, Byaruhanga and Ainebyona will be charged for buying a stolen phone from the deceased. Onyango warned people against buying second hand phones, saying in most cases people sell phones they have stolen or used to commit crime.
