Kamuli District Shocked by Another Genital Mutilation Attack

Date:

Kamuli District faces another horrific genital mutilation attack. A 40-year-old woman allegedly mutilated her 60-year-old husband in a late-night assault. This marks a disturbing domestic violence trend.

Richard Masanka now recovers at Kamuli General Hospital. His wife Rehema attacked him as he slept in their Busoigo Cell home. The assault occurred around 11:00 PM on June 6, 2025.

Witnesses say Rehema first tried to strangle Masanka. She then severed one testicle. Police are investigating possible motives. Marital conflicts and financial stress may have triggered the attack.

Doctors initially treated Masanka at Kwagala Medical Centre. They later transferred him to Kamuli General Hospital. His condition remains critical.

ASP Michael Kasadha, Busoga North Police Spokesperson, condemned the violence. “Domestic violence destroys families,” he stated. Authorities arrested Rehema and will charge her with attempted murder.

This follows similar genital mutilation attacks in Kamuli. In February 2025, Kevina Nabirye received a 20-year sentence. She had mutilated her husband over infidelity claims. Another case occurred in June 2024. Suzan Namuganza allegedly cut off her husband’s genitals after an argument.

Experts see a growing crisis. Unresolved conflicts, poverty, and mental health gaps contribute. A local activist explained the problem. Many couples suffer silently until violence erupts. Financial stress and communication breakdowns often trigger attacks.

Mr. Benon Mugisha, Kamuli’s Chief Administrator, demands action. He urges community leaders to intervene. More families risk destruction without solutions.

This latest genital mutilation attack highlights Kamuli’s urgent need for change. Authorities must address domestic violence systematically. Community efforts and policy reforms could prevent future tragedies.
