Minister Namuganza’s agent killed, Bukono NRM polls suspended

Date:

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has suspended elections in Bukono Constituency in Namutumba district following the killing of one of the candidate’s agent.

Quoting Dr Tanga Odoi, the chair of NRM EC, the party’s official Twitter handle said investigations were ongoing.

“I have suspended elections in Bukono constituency because Hon. Persis Namuganza’s agent was killed this morning,” the party said while quoting Odoi.

“We have sent police to arrest anyone connected to that killing.”

Bukono is no stranger to violence. Ahead of the 2016 polls, the Police fired live bullets and teargas canisters to disperse rowdy crowds.

The party has also suspended voting in parts of Sembabule over election violence.
