Museveni hosts national thanksgiving prayers today

According to the programme, the main celebrant will be Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, the Archbishop of Kampala Diocese.

President Yoweri Museveni will today host national thanksgiving prayers at State House, Entebbe.

According to the programme, the main celebrant will be Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, the Archbishop of Kampala Diocese, while the guest preacher will be Henry Luke Orombi, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Church of Uganda.

The prayers will take place at 2pm.

On Thursday, Museveni’s team announced that he would be taking a break off the campaign trail to attend to other engagements.

Museveni who is seeking another term in office as the National Resistance Movement flag bearer has so far traversed several regions of the country, holding scientific campaigns.
 
He has so far campaigned in Luwero, Acholi, Lango, West Nile, Sebei, Karamoja, Bugisu, Teso, Bukedi, Busoga and Ankole.

Museveni is set to campaign in Kigezi tomorrow.  

The prayers come at a time the country has recorded 3,600 cases of COVID-19 in a single week. 

Uganda has so far registered 220 COVID-19 deaths and 25,730 infections.
