Eriya Elepot, the Busia district Police Commander says that they realized many people have been passing through the porous routes at the border a thing that humpers the screening of covid-19 at the main entrance.
Police in Busia district has heavily deployed its officers on most of the porous routes at the border to reduce on the number of people entering the country without being screened for the Coronavirus (COVID -19).
This follows various cries by the people and authorities in the district over the threats that the porous routes were exposing the country to the virus.
Eriya Elepot, the Busia district Police Commander says that they realized many people have been passing through the porous routes at the border and therefore avoiding the mandatory screening.
He said the deployment is to ensure that whoever comes from neighboring Kenya uses the main entrance point such that they are screened before they enter into the country.
According to Elepot, Busia has over 200 porous routes on its border line but they are working hard to deploy at each of them.
Yusuf Mutwalib, a local defence officer from Eastern Division says that they are in collaboration with police to enforce the operation on the porous routes to ensure people use the main gate so that they are all screened.

However, Moses Akim, says that police should also place sanitizers and temperature detectors at the Porous routes.

Ramadhan Kakembo, a councilor for Western Division wants government increase more manpower at the main entrance of the border.

Steven Wafula, who was found stuck with smuggled goods on one of the porous routes says that he can’t use the main entrance because he earns a leaving through smuggling.
