President Museveni Extends Generous Eid Support to Vulnerable Communities in Kampala

Date:

President Museveni extended generous Eid support to Muslims and vulnerable communities in Kampala. His initiative ensured that all Ugandans, regardless of socio-economic status, could celebrate Eid al-Adha with dignity and joy. The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) in Kyambogo made this possible, providing much-needed assistance during a significant spiritual period. The President Museveni Eid support initiative became a key example of his ongoing commitment to helping the less fortunate during national celebrations.

To demonstrate his compassion, President Museveni directed the slaughtering of over 12 cows at the ONC. The meat, along with other food items, was distributed to those in need. Hundreds of people from low-income areas and ghettos in Kampala formed long lines to receive the Eid packages, which included meat and other essentials. This generous act reflected the government’s dedication to ensuring that vulnerable Ugandans could fully enjoy the celebrations.

Hajjat Hadijja Namyalo, the head of the ONC, led the distribution. She organized a team of youth volunteers to make the process run smoothly. Hajjat Namyalo emphasized that the gesture was in line with the Islamic tradition of Qurbani. This tradition commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to God. She explained that President Museveni’s donation mirrored this tradition. She also urged those financially stable to consider helping others. “This is not just a donation; it symbolizes unity, compassion, and inclusivity,” she said.

Many beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude for the Eid support. Some shared that they had been uncertain how they would celebrate Eid due to financial difficulties. Mariam Nakato, a single mother from Kisenyi, said: “I had no food for Eid, and this meat means everything to me and my children. May God bless the President and Hajjat Namyalo for remembering us.”

While distributing the Eid support, Hajjat Namyalo advised the community to manage their resources wisely. She acknowledged the current economic challenges and encouraged everyone to be mindful of their spending.

The event ended with prayers of thanks for the ONC and President Museveni. There were calls for continued community-driven efforts to support vulnerable populations. This act of generosity is part of a broader government effort to promote inclusive development. It ensures no Ugandan is left behind during national and religious celebrations. The initiative also reinforces unity and compassion, especially in tough times.
