In the initial planning, Soroti Municipal Council was promised 14 kilometres as part of the social corporate responsibility upon the completion of a-171- kilometre road. Several roads in the municipality including the Presidential Lodge in Pamba were earmarked to benefit from this cluster.
There is bickering in Soroti Municipality following the withdrawal of 14-kilometre road extension from Moroto- Soroti Road plan. The government commenced the construction of Soroti- Moroto Road in 2016.
In the initial planning, Soroti Municipal Council was promised 14 kilometres as part of the social corporate responsibility upon the completion of a-171- kilometre road. Several roads in the municipality including the Presidential Lodge in Pamba were earmarked to benefit from this cluster.
However, the new development indicates that the distance of the road has reduced to four kilometres.
Moses Otimong, the Town Clerk of Soroti Municipal Council says the 14 kilometres have instead been included on the Uganda National Roads Authority- UNRA road.
He explains that the contractor for Soroti- Moroto road stopped at Teso College Aloet, eight kilometres away from Soroti town, a distance he noted has been included in the 14 kilometres.
Moroto- Soroti cluster will now handle Station Road, High Court Road, Kennedy Road and Mahammad Road.

Isaac Asaku, the Deputy Mayor Soroti Municipal Council says he is disappointed by the decision to reduce the kilometres for Soroti Municipality. Asaku suspects some foul play in the road works.

The Chinese are currently in Soroti Municipality for the extension of the Soroti- Moroto Road.
