Trump Warns Iran as Israel Conflict Escalates

Date:

Former U.S. President Donald Trump warns Iran amid a rapidly escalating conflict with Israel, cutting his G7 summit trip short to focus on unfolding developments in the Middle East. His surprise announcement has reignited global concern over a possible regional war.

Trump Leaves G7 Early Over Middle East Crisis

On Monday, Trump announced he would return to Washington earlier than planned from the Group of 7 summit in Canada. “I have to be back as soon as I can,” he told reporters, citing “what’s going on in the Middle East” as the reason for his abrupt departure.

Trump initially planned to stay in Canada until Tuesday. However, rising tensions between Israel and Iran shifted his priorities. Speaking from the G7 venue in the Canadian Rockies, he hinted at behind-the-scenes diplomacy. “Iran wants to make a deal, and as soon as I leave here, we’re going to be doing something,” he said.

A Stark Social Media Warning to Iran

Soon after the G7 issued a joint call for peace, Trump posted a chilling message on Truth Social:
“Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

This statement shocked diplomats and fueled global speculation. Although Trump did not elaborate, sources suggest the message aimed to increase pressure on Iran to engage in urgent talks.

Talks Urged as War Clouds Gather

Trump directed Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff to urgently engage Iranian officials. According to a U.S. official, the team worked through intermediaries to maintain open communication channels.

During conversations with G7 leaders, Trump confirmed that ceasefire discussions were underway. He expressed optimism but emphasized that consequences would follow if diplomacy failed.

Despite growing speculation, the White House maintained that U.S. forces had not joined Israeli strikes. “American forces are maintaining their defensive posture,” said White House spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer on X.

Trump Pushes Diplomacy But Leaves Options Open

When asked about U.S. military involvement, Trump remained vague. Instead, he focused on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, saying, “I want to see no nuclear weapon in Iran.”

Pressed further, Trump hinted at action, saying, “Something’s going to happen.” However, he declined to share specifics, emphasizing that the U.S. would only act if its interests were directly attacked.

Trump Eventually Signs G7 Statement

Though initially resistant, Trump ultimately approved the G7 joint statement after negotiators adjusted its language. The revised statement affirmed Israel’s right to self-defense and urged a broader de-escalation in Gaza.

“We reiterate our support for the security of Israel… Iran can never have a nuclear weapon,” the statement declared.

According to officials, Trump’s approval came after European leaders altered certain clauses to align more closely with the U.S. stance.

Russia’s Role and G7 Discord

The summit also exposed deep disagreements over Russia’s role. Trump floated the idea of Vladimir Putin as a mediator, citing a recent phone call. French President Emmanuel Macron swiftly rejected the notion, citing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a disqualifier.

These differences came into sharper focus when Trump criticized the G7 for expelling Russia in 2014. He blamed Barack Obama and Justin Trudeau for removing Russia after it annexed Crimea, saying it was a mistake.

What’s Next?

As Trump warns Iran and accelerates diplomatic moves, several key questions remain. Will Iran de-escalate? Can Israel sustain its offensive without U.S. military backing? And what role will Russia or other powers play?

Trump’s national security team has been summoned, and the Situation Room is on alert. The next few hours could prove pivotal.
