Date:

Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports has postponed the nationwide reopening of schools. The new date is Tuesday, February 10, 2026. This is an eight-day delay from the original date of February 2.

The Ministry cited the General Elections as the primary reason. Officials stated the decision ensures the safety of all learners across the country.

An official announcement was issued on January 16, 2026. It directs all schools and education institutions to follow the new schedule. This directive applies universally. It includes international schools, tertiary institutions, and universities.
