Arriving passengers through Entebbe Airport will not be quarantined- Cabinet

Date:

Travelers arriving through Entebbe International Airport will not be quarantined, the government has announced.

According to a cabinet meeting held on Monday, the government has decided that all travelers arriving through the airport that will open next month will not be held under institutional quarantine but given guidance on self-isolation.

According to the cabinet resolutions, all travelers would be expected to carry a negative test certificate having been obtained a least 72 hours earlier.

However, for travelers presenting symptoms at the airport without a test result, a sample will be collected upon arrival and the individual asked to quarantine at their own cost until the result is returned.

The cabinet also decreed that the responsibility of testing travelers before travel entirely lies on the respective airlines.

Meanwhile, not a single traveler would be subjected to “institutionalized quarantine”

“They would be given guidance on the recommended procedures for self-quarantine where needed and for infection prevention,” the cabinet resolved.

Among other issues resolved on travelers at the airport include; Testing people on symptom-based and prioritizing testing of travelers from high-risk countries.
