Bobi’s NUP opens nominations for Kampala Lord Mayor post again after Ssebagala quits

Kyadondo East legislator and presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) has announced as vacant, the position of the Lord Mayor of Kampala City flag bearer.

In a letter from the NUP Electoral Management Committee (EMC) Chairperson Mercy Walukamba, the party is set to vet Kampala Lord Mayor flagbearers again and has called for interested aspirants to register.

Walukamba said, “Interested persons are therefore hereby requested to fill-in and return their expression of interest forms to the party headquarters by Friday 25th September, 2020 at 5:00pm.”

The development follows the stepping down of the selected flag bearer for Lord Mayor position, Latif Ssebaggala, who declared on Tuesday that he had quit the race.

Ssebaggala had saw off competion from among others, musician Joseph Mayanja commonly known as Chameleone, in a highly contested battle.

The interested candidates, according to Walukamba will have to be Ugandans above 18 years of age, with a National ID, UCE and UACE qualifications and registered members of the National Unity Platform.
