DNA links head intercepted at parliament to murdered Masaka girl; investigations widen to other killings

Date:

Joseph Nuwashaba, 22 was arrested by police at parliament on Monday with a human head wrapped as a gift for Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

According to the Criminal Investigations Division spokesperson, Charles Twine Mansio, detectives are investigating the 22 year old suspect to find out whether he has participated in a series of other murders , prior to his arrest on Monday.

“We want to investigate whether he has been involved in other murders . As a preliquisite, we shall first check his mental status,” Twine said.

“We want to know whether he had participated in other ritual murders and know his accomplices.”

DNA links body to head

This website had separately learnt that Nuwashaba who was leaving with the deceased’s family since the lockdown had on Sunday one of the kids to escort him somewhere and since then they have not heard from him.

“Later after a search, a headless body that was later confirmed to be of Ssenyonga’s daughter identified as Faith Kyamagero was found dumped near the National Water and Sewerage Corporation Treatment Plant dump site in Masaka city.”

On Monday, as Ssenyonga’s family prepared to bury the headless body of his daughter, they were astonished to see photos of a head that looked like their own at Parliament.

It is said that by a mere look at the face, the family was able to recognize the head as that of their child and the burial ceremony was halted.

However, police insisted that they could not confirm whether it was the head of Ssenyonga’s daughter until a DNA test is carried out.

The CID spokesperson said a DNA carried out on both the head and lifeless body confirmed that both parts were for one person

“We have done a DNA on both parts and this morning, it was established that both were linked. The family also identified the head as that of their daughter, Faith Kyamagero,”Twine said

The police spokesperson noted that detectives will now try to link the suspect to the crime scene in Masaka where the five- year- old girl was killed and body dumped.
