Hamis Kiggundu’s Nakivubo Stadium redevelopment on track to be the best in East Africa

Date:

East Africa’s next modern stadium has been visited by FIFA officials several times in the past to inspect construction works and ensure compliance with FIFA requirements and internationally recognized football stadium construction procedures.

Hamis Kiggundu, a young billionaire from Africa, has confirmed that the exterior facade of the 40,000-seater Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium has been completed, marking a major milestone in the redevelopment project.

Once completed, the stadium is expected to host various sports activities, including athletics, netball, bodybuilding, basketball, volleyball, and football. In addition to the regular seating section, the stadium will have VIP, VVIP, and executive wings with 20 seats each and a range of amenities.

The stadium will also feature six restaurants, two 300-seat cinema halls, medical rooms for both home and visiting teams, referee rooms, and other facilities. The total cost of the project upon completion is estimated to be $200 million.

The stadium’s construction had stalled due to COVID-19, resulting in a protracted lockdown and high production costs. However, Kiggundu is determined to complete the project as soon as possible and turn the Nakivubo Memorial Stadium into the best sports and entertainment complex in the region, while also making a statement about the capacity of Ugandans to do their best.
