During the International Labour Day celebrations at Namutumba District ceremonial grounds, President Museveni vowed to take action against corrupt politicians and civil servants who ask for bribes from investors and disrupt the decision-making process. The President stated that such actions increase the cost of doing business in his government.
He also announced that a unit would be set up within his office where investors could directly report delays or bribe requests. In addition, Mr Museveni expressed concern about the high cost of electricity and its impact on business and suggested reducing the cost of power used in industries.
Furthermore, he urged people who have encroached on wetlands in eastern Uganda to vacate, and promised to help them shift from rice farming to fish farming to restore water for irrigation.
