KENYAN James Kariuki took the top prize but Ugandans dominated the shorter races in the 2011 MTN Kampala Marathon Sunday morning.
Kariuki won the 42km race after Ugandan ace Dorcus Inzikuru swept the women’s 21km race, and Onesmus Kikoech Serem the men’s category.
Ugandans, however, swept the 10km race – both Men and Women Abraham Kiplimo crossed the finishing line first with a time of 29minutes. First in the Women’s 10km was Viola Chemos.
In the Men’s 10km, Ugandans took the first four positions with Kibet Soyekwo, Jacob Araptany and Ben Siwa taking second to fourth in that order.
In the Woman’s, Juliet Chekwel, Janet Achola, Nancy Chiptegei and Jackline Cheruto swept second to fifth in that order in the annual raced that started and finished at Kololo airstrip.
