Joseph Mayanja picks NUP nomination forms, sets up primary race with Latif Ssebagala

Date:

Democratic Party National Mobiliser Joseph Mayanja alias Chameleone has officially picked National Unity Platform (NUP) nomination forms for the position of Kampala Lord Mayor, setting up a mouthwatering primary contest with Latif Ssebagala and brother Nasser Ssebagala Seeya.

Chameloene who was just recently unveiled by the Democratic Party and appointed national mobiliser, abandoned the party and joined the NUP wagon, in which he seeks to be given the Mayorship flag bearer status.

However, the singer faces stiff competition with another NUP member, Latif Ssebagala who has been by the side of party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine.

The two are also joined in the same race by former Presidential advisor Nasser Ssebagala alias Sseeya.

With the trio looking forward to the NUP flag, they have posed another selection headache for the party again which is already facing hardships in Kawempe South, Kawempe North, Rubaga North among others.

Speaking about the race ahead of him, Chameleone said Kampala people are far more interested in change and that comes with the change of people.

“Do the people of Kampala want to change or not? Are they interested in the old or new?” he posed.

“I am not on any pressure; the people of Kampala want Mayanja. Artists are also in support of my candidature as my first family,” he added.

The charged Chameleone said he has victory in sight, adding that he is only waiting for the swearing oath of office.
