Kiwatule Police Shoot Dead Suspected Robber

Date:

Police in Kiwatule have shot dead a suspected robber who attempted to attack officers with a panga during an early morning incident on August 22, 2025.

The man, linked to several robberies in Kiwatule and Kigowa, was killed when officers responded to a distress call from a resident. The victim, identified as Mr. Davis, had reported being attacked by two men armed with pangas near Ecomart Supermarket.

Officers from Kiwatule Police Station quickly responded and confronted the suspects. During the standoff, one of the men allegedly charged at the officers with a panga. Police shot him on the spot, while his accomplice fled the scene.

Police said the deceased wore a hood, a blue jacket, and a black mask. Residents identified him as a notorious robber suspected of earlier attacks in the area. His body was later taken to the city mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire praised the officers for their swift action. He said the intervention prevented further harm to the community. Investigations are ongoing to track down the escaped suspect.
