Mabikke lied about his vetting results – NUP

Date:

National Unity Platform (NUP) has said the vetting results Makindye East MP aspirant, Michael Mabikke, has been parading on different political shows, are wrong.

In a statement undersigned by Ms Mercy Walukamba, the chairperson of the vetting committee issued Sunday afternoon, NUP indicated that Mr Mabikke scored 22 out of 50 in the vetting process and 37 out of 50 in the ground study.

“Ordinarily, we do not release candidates’ scores to the public. However, given his continuous misleading statements intended to discredit our process, we have decided to release them. It is therefore not true that his results or those of any other candidate were tampered with. All aggrieved candidates have been advised to petition the Executive Board for possible redress,” the statement reads in part.

Last week after the vetting process at NUP, many candidates who had been denied the flag ran rampage and vowed to stand as independents.

Ms Walukamba who is also an aspirant of the Bugweri Woman MP seat, said that the whole process was transparent and those who were not satisfied with the result should appeal to the executive committee.

Mr Mabikke has appeared on several TV shows claiming that he had scored 96 per cent in the vetting process.  Advertisement

Asked to respond to the disparities and the results from NUP secretariat, Mr Mabikke said he would respond after seeing the figures provided by the party.

“Those are doctored numbers. I will respond later not now,” Mr Mabikke said.
