Mário César Martins de Camargo Steps Down as Rotary International President-Elect

Date:

Mário César Martins de Camargo, the 2025-26 Rotary International President-elect, has stepped down due to personal and professional reasons. He informed Rotary International President Stephanie A. Urchick about his decision in a letter dated June 8, 2025.

Commitment to Rotary’s Mission

Despite stepping down from the presidency, Mário César Martins de Camargo remains committed to the Rotary mission. He expressed his intention to stay active in Rotary, serving the community in other ways. He clarified that his passion for Rotary’s humanitarian efforts would not diminish. His decision came after balancing growing demands in both his personal and professional life.

Mário César Martins de Camargo has been dedicated to Rotary International since 1980. He joined the Rotary Club of Santo André in São Paulo, Brazil and has been a member ever since. In August 2023, the Rotary Nominating Committee nominated him for the role of president-elect. This nomination was a proud moment for Brazilian Rotary members, marking a significant achievement in his leadership journey.

Beyond Rotary, Mário César Martins de Camargo has had a successful career in Brazil’s printing industry. He led Gráfica Bandeirantes, a well-known printing company, and contributed to the sector’s growth in Brazil. He also served as a consultant and leader, shaping the development of the industry.

Additionally, de Camargo has supported Casa da Esperança (House of Hope), a Rotary-sponsored medical center in Santo André. The center provides care to over 200,000 patients annually. His long-standing involvement in such initiatives shows his dedication to community service, which aligns with Rotary’s mission.

With de Camargo stepping down, the Rotary International Board of Directors will soon meet to select a new president for the 2025-26 term. The board’s decisions will be crucial as Rotary continues to evolve. Though this leadership change is significant, it will not diminish the organization’s global mission or its commitment to service.

As Rotary moves forward, Mário César Martins de Camargo’s legacy will continue to inspire both current and future members. His work within Rotary will persist in other ways, strengthening the organization’s global impact on communities.
