Today, State House officials, led by Princess Pauline Nassolo and Ms. Flora Kabibi, delivered a business booster package to 173 vendors. Each vendor received Shs 100,000 to help grow their small businesses. Princess Nassolo, Senior Presidential Advisor on older people, and Ms. Kabibi, Special Presidential Assistant for Women Affairs, highlighted the importance of using the funds wisely.. Nassolo urged vendors to invest the money strategically in their businesses while awaiting further support from government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga.
“President Museveni’s financial support is here to help you grow your businesses,” Nassolo said. “Use the funds wisely, and you will continue benefiting from government programs focused on improving livelihoods.”
Ms. Kabibi emphasized that the funds should remain dedicated to business growth. She explained that these funds represent an essential step toward joining the money economy and fighting poverty.
“President Museveni is committed to improving the well-being of all Ugandans,” she said. “This support reflects his dedication to economic empowerment.”
Vendor Reactions and Gratitude
The vendors expressed heartfelt gratitude for the assistance. The Chairperson of Kamengo II Market, Ms. Josephine Namakula, thanked President Museveni for sending a reliable team to deliver the funds. She also praised the transparency in the process, which made the distribution of the funds smooth.
“We have never received assistance from PDM or Emyooga, but this team delivered exactly what was promised,” Namakula said. “We are grateful for the President’s support.”
Mr. Elliot Arinda, an agricultural vendor, shared his thanks. “We are thankful for President Museveni’s financial support, which will help improve our businesses and boost our productivity.”
The initiative received praise, particularly for its focus on empowering women. Ms. Naluyima Rebecca, representing Kikunyu-Kanyike Market vendors, expressed her appreciation for Museveni’s commitment to empowering women economically. Many vendors reported improvements in their businesses, and they feel hopeful about the future.
“Although I belong to the Democratic Party, I still received the money. I am grateful for the President’s inclusive approach,” she said. “This project does not discriminate based on political affiliation.”
Vendors like Ms. Josephine Nabatanzi, a tomato seller, also thanked the President. “I had almost run out of capital, but with this money, I can buy more tomatoes and continue my business.”
Ms. Teddy Namanda, another vendor, said, “Thank you, President Museveni. I’ll use this money to expand my business and improve my household income. This support has come at a crucial time, and we will invest it wisely.”
