Buganda Road Grade One Magistrate Doreen Karungi has granted bail to Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.
Ssegirinya was ordered to pay sh1m cash and his sureties bonded sh10m noncash.
His sureties were Apollo Ariho, a councillor for Wandegeya, and Thomas Bagonza.
Court granted him bail on the basis that Ssegirinya’s case is bailable, he is sick and needed urgent specialised treatment.
In the previous court session, Ssegirinya displayed his sick feet.
Ssegirinya who appeared in court via zoom revealed that efforts for him to access medical care have been frustrated by the prison authorities; he says even when he was taken to Mulago hospital nothing was done to relieve his pain.
He claims medical reports indicate that he is developing cancerous cells and if not permitted to access specialised treatment, he may lose his life.
Court has set December 22 to start hearing the matter.
Ssegirinya was charged with one offense of incitement to violence, which he denied.
Prosecution alleges that Segirinya on his Facebook page posted the content, which, according to prosecution, is likely to incite public violence.
On his page, he is said to have posted information relating to the 1994 Rwanda Genocide, which the prosecution view as a carefully conceived plan to cast mad on the government’s image and cause public violence.
The legislator is also indicted with murder and terrorism charges at Masaka magistrates court stemming from the Panga wielding gangs in the Greater Masaka.
