Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu leadership reshuffle has brought new changes to the kingdom’s top ranks. Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma appointed Benson Baritazale Kule as the new Prime Minister, succeeding Joseph Muranga Kule, who stepped down due to ongoing health concerns.
The announcement came during a cabinet session held at the King’s residence in Kamaiba, Kasese Municipality. Muranga, who led the kingdom’s administration for years, requested retirement to focus on his health. The Omusinga granted the request, praising his loyalty and service.
“The Kingdom owes a debt of gratitude to Muranga for his loyalty and exemplary leadership during his tenure,” Omusinga Mumbere said. “His health and well-being are paramount.”
Muranga will now serve as a member of the Privy Council, the highest advisory body in the OBR. His contribution to the kingdom will continue in a less demanding but influential role.
Benson Baritazale Kule steps into leadership at a time when the Kingdom seeks unity and institutional growth. While his background remains largely undisclosed, royal cabinet members received the appointment with hope and enthusiasm.
In the same session, the Omusinga made two additional high-level promotions. Patrick Muhesi Baluku, previously Minister of Finance, is now the First Deputy Prime Minister. Juliet Best Bakoko, who served as Minister of Gender, was appointed Second Deputy Prime Minister.
Cabinet members applauded the announcements, reflecting on Muranga’s legacy while expressing optimism for the future. The Omusinga emphasized the purpose behind the reshuffle.
“These changes aim to strengthen the Kingdom’s leadership structure and ensure continuity in governance,” he said.
The rest of the cabinet remains unchanged. The King chose to maintain stability in other ministries by retaining the current leadership.
This marks Omusinga Mumbere’s first major cabinet reshuffle since his return to public life. For years, legal challenges and restrictions had limited his engagements. The latest appointments symbolize a return to active leadership and a renewed commitment to stability and growth in the Rwenzururu Kingdom.
The reshuffle reflects a turning point. It signals institutional renewal and a fresh start as the Kingdom moves forward with new leadership and a unified vision.
