Uganda space cooperation,Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba met senior experts from Abu Dhabi’s MIRA Aerospace to discuss potential collaboration on space security and satellite communications. The meeting, held at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters, focused on establishing a dedicated aerospace base in Uganda that could act as a regional hub for East Africa.

Gen. Muhoozi emphasized the critical role of space capabilities in modern national security, highlighting space defence and space-based telecommunications as essential for safeguarding Uganda’s sovereignty. MIRA Aerospace presented advanced technologies for surveillance and communications, with plans to formalize the partnership through a memorandum of understanding.
Uganda’s Growing Interest in Space
Uganda has demonstrated increasing interest in aerospace and satellite development to modernize defence, enhance disaster management, and expand telecommunications infrastructure. If approved, the partnership would mark one of Uganda’s first formal ventures into the space sector, reflecting Abu Dhabi’s ambitions to broaden its aerospace presence across Africa.
