Why is FDC & NRM Owning UCU Guild Presidential Candidate after Victory?

Date:

There is Drama on social media platforms after the Vibrant FDC leaders hurriedly owned NUP’s guild presidential candidate Mirembe Rachael after her victory in yesterday’s polls.

The FDC which lost Makerere’s Guild presidential sit to NUP’s Shamim Nambassa has resorted to owning the victor candidate in UCU guild polls.

No sooner had Racheal been announced as Guild president than Mulindwa Walid Lubega and Harold Kaija announced allegiance to her. These FDC members went ahead to edit Mirembe’s campaigning poster to include their Key Symbol onto it.

However, in this process these two FDC members baptized Racheal as Rebecca which triggered suspense, widespread backlash and sought attention from many people.

Students commented and some include “In UCU we don’t have parties” and “her name is Rachael not Rebecca as you have baptized her” another student commented.

One of Rachael’s camp members revealed that they have no business with FDC and they have been running Independent but NUP leaning since the institution doesn’t have space for party politics.
