KAMPALA UGANDA| On the night of September 7th, 2023, a horrifying incident unfolded in the home of Nantongo Faith. Six unidentified men, dressed in army uniforms and arriving in a tinted vehicle, brutally attacked Faith, demanding information about her husband, Arafaty Bagonza.
Arafaty, known for his close personal ties to Bobi Wine, has insisted that his connections to the popular figure are personal rather than political. Despite this, it appears that these associations have made him and his family targets of violent interrogations.
Faith recounted her traumatic experience to our news reporter, stating that she was home when the group of men forcibly broke into the house, immediately questioning her about Arafaty’s whereabouts. Their hostile demeanor and questions left her in immense fear. She recalled one of the men menacingly declaring that if they catch Arafaty, they should “just kill him” since he’s been uncooperative.
Following the attack, Nantongo Faith was rushed to Mulago Hospital in critical condition. The severity of her injuries and the blatant nature of the attack have left the community shocked and demanding action.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first incident involving Arafaty’s family. Recently, another family member was savagely beaten, also with demands about Arafaty’s location. This escalating pattern of violence is casting a dark shadow, raising concerns about personal safety and freedom from intimidation in the region.
This brutal incident underscores the pressing need for thorough investigation and protection of civilians from such egregious acts of violence.
