Former Member of Parliament for Kawempe South Division, Mubarak Munyagwa, and four other individuals have been remanded to Luzira prison following their arrest on charges of criminal trespass, malicious damage to property, and conspiracy to commit a felony. The group, including Munyagwa, appeared before Her Worship Doreen Karungi at Kajjansi Chief Magistrates Court.
During the court proceedings, the charges were read to the suspects, and all five, including the former MP, pleaded not guilty. They have been remanded in prison until June 12, when they are scheduled to return to court.
According to reports, Munyagwa, along with Paddy Kabuye, Joweria Nakafero, Godfrey Buwembo, Isa Sekitoleko, and others who are still at large, allegedly entered the land registered as LRV 3839 Folio 20, Kyadondo Block 272 Plot 256 in Mutungo cell, Wakiso District. The land is claimed to be under the possession of Dechomai Asset Trust Number Three LCC. The suspects are accused of intending to cause annoyance to Dechomai Asset Trust Number Three L.C.C. between May 26 and June 3, 2023.
The case will continue to unfold as the defendants await their next court appearance in June.
