In a diplomatic ceremony held at State House Entebbe on Wednesday, President Yoweri Museveni officially welcomed four newly appointed ambassadors to Uganda. During the event, the President reaffirmed the Ugandan government’s commitment to bolstering friendly relations and cooperation with their respective countries.
The four distinguished diplomats who presented their credentials to President Museveni include William W. Popp from the United States, Hermansen Anne Kristin from Norway, Pirkka Tapiola representing Finland, and Hazem Shabat from Palestine.
President Museveni expressed his pleasure in hosting the new ambassadors and highlighted the importance of mutual collaboration between Uganda and their respective nations. He emphasized the need for diplomatic engagement to address global challenges and promote peace and development.
In his address, President Museveni said, “Uganda values its international partnerships, and we are committed to strengthening these bonds with our friends from the United States, Norway, Finland, and Palestine. Our collaboration will extend across various sectors, including trade, security, and humanitarian efforts.”
The ambassadors reciprocated the warm reception, emphasizing their dedication to fostering mutual respect and cooperation during their tenure in Uganda. They praised Uganda’s role in regional stability and its commitment to addressing global issues.
Hermansen Anne Kristin of Norway stated, “I am honored to serve as Norway’s ambassador to Uganda and look forward to working closely with the Ugandan government. We share common values and interests, and I am confident that our partnership will yield positive outcomes.”
Pirkka Tapiola of Finland expressed optimism about the future collaboration between the two nations. “Finland and Uganda have a history of constructive cooperation, and I am excited to continue this tradition. Together, we can achieve great things for our people.”
Hazem Shabat of Palestine also expressed his commitment to strengthening ties with Uganda. “Palestine greatly appreciates Uganda’s unwavering support for our cause. We are eager to enhance our relationship and explore new avenues of cooperation.”
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including State Minister for Foreign Affairs (Regional Cooperation) John Mulimba and other officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event symbolized a renewed commitment to diplomacy and collaboration between Uganda and its international partners, paving the way for enhanced bilateral relations and mutual prosperity.
