“Robbery in Kalisizo: Masked Gunmen Escape with 150 Million Shillings”

Date:

An investigation is underway by the police in Greater Masaka sub-region following an incident of aggravated robbery. On Thursday evening, a group of armed gunmen attacked a mobile money shop in Kalisizo town, central Uganda.

They reportedly stole 150 million Ugandan shillings from Lwanga Maurice’s mobile money services, located near Ziridamu shopping center in Kalisizo town council, Kyotera district. The robbers, dressed in black uniforms with blue jackets and masks covering their faces, brandished a single SR rifle. After the robbery, they fired shots in the air to intimidate witnesses and fled towards Kalisizo Park yard, possibly with the assistance of a waiting getaway vehicle.

The shop, owned by 29-year-old businessman Frank Lwanga Maurice, had two employees present at the time who were busy reconciling the day’s transactions. Two cartridges were recovered from the scene. Mr. Lwanga estimated his total loss to be around 200 million shillings. Thankfully, there were no severe injuries sustained by his employees, who are currently receiving medical care and counseling at Kalisizo Hospital.
