Uganda Business Community’s Impact on Stability and Growth
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has expressed his gratitude towards Uganda’s business community for its vital role in ensuring national stability and contributing to the growth of both regional and global markets. The President made these remarks during the Kampala Business Forum held at the Serena Hotel in Kampala on December 14, 2025, under the theme “The Power of Collaboration: Public-Private Partnerships for National Transformation.”
Supporting Economic Transformation through Collaboration
In his speech, President Museveni emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to foster economic transformation. He highlighted the business community’s role in shaping the middle class and enabling economic growth by bridging the gap between production costs and final pricing.
“You are the middle-class people who depend on profit… You are the profit-makers, the middle class, not peasants,” Museveni remarked, underscoring the significant role of businesses in driving Uganda’s economic development.
Commitment to Structured Infrastructure and Market Access
Uganda Business Community,Museveni also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to structured infrastructure development and ensuring better market access for businesses. He encouraged the business community to continue embracing productive investment as the path to prosperity.
“The Bible says that whatever a man does, that is what he reaps, and this business forum is exactly what NRM has planted,” the President said, reflecting on the ongoing transformation within Uganda’s economic landscape.
Business Leaders Express Support for Museveni’s Leadership
The forum also witnessed expressions of support from Uganda’s business leaders. Emmanuel Katongole, Chairman of the Presidential CEO Forum, thanked President Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government for fostering a conducive environment for business growth. He emphasized the peace and stability that allows businesses to thrive.
Tourism’s Role in Uganda’s Economic Growth
Notably, Amos Wekesa, CEO of Great Lakes Safaris, acknowledged Museveni’s efforts in boosting Uganda’s tourism industry, which has seen a significant influx of tourists in recent years.

The forum concluded with the formal endorsement of President Museveni for the 2026 presidential election, with the business community pledging continued support for his leadership. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, also thanked the private sector for making national development easier through their unwavering support.
