We came into the industry to fill a gap that I noticed as a medical professional having been working in hospitals especially during the Covid 19 pandemic Habumugisha notes. “ Many patients during that period either failed to get hospital space for admission due to congestion or extremely high costs clearly showing us the gap of home based medicare that needed to be filled something we have focused on to date” he says.

In addition, Habumugisha says, he also noticed that many times patients who had gotten better after admission in hospitals for a while relapsed instead of recovering fully when they got back home because they couldn’t access professional care medical especially while at home. As a result one of our main services to date is the provision of home based medical care Nurses that help patients with ensuring they stick to their Doctor’s instructions, medical prescriptions, diet, strict hygiene routines and everything else they need to do to ensure full speedy recovery.

Teamwork Homecare’s full range of services consequently expanded to include provision of Elderly care, post delivery care, Physiotherapy at home, paediatric Nursing, post surgical care, counseling services plus emergency and consultation services that may be required in the comfort of one’s home.

Plans for 2024 This year Habumugisha forecasts the company will take care of a much larger number of patients up to 400 or more doubling the number of 2023 which was 200 patients. With a full scale application in it’s final stages that will enable clients check in patients and access our service through both Android and Apple iOS devices, we expect tremendous growth in the medium term he says. Besides having space where patients can check in, the application will also have space where nurses looking for opportunities to work with Teamwork Homecare can check in plus medical facilities looking at hiring temporary staff to fill in for those absent will also be able to use the application to access us.

Teamwork plans to open branches upcountry starting later this year in Western Uganda, Eastern and Northern working with referral hospitals in these regions to bring services closer to the people. “Establishing an in house pharmacy to ease access to prescription and support medication for our patients is also another move Teamwork Homecare is looking at this year” Habumugisha Teamwork Homecare’s CEO concludes.
