Watoto Church, one of Uganda’s largest evangelical congregations, has dismissed a pastor following allegations of sexual misconduct. The announcement was made on Sunday, August 10, in a video message broadcast to all its branches.
Church leaders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to high moral standards, stressing that leaders must uphold values that reflect the institution’s mission. Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo, team leader at Watoto Church Ministries, described the incident as “unfortunate” and deeply damaging to the church’s core values.
“This is a sad moment for the church,” Pastor Rwotlonyo said, adding that the leadership remains focused on righteous living and ensuring members are accountable to the Word of God. He did not provide specific details regarding the alleged misconduct.
Watoto Church is widely recognized for its youth programs, music ministry, and charitable work across Uganda. With multiple branches nationwide, the church’s leadership has emphasized that maintaining integrity among pastors is vital for sustaining public trust and advancing its mission.
By taking firm action in this case, Watoto Church aims to reinforce its position as a faith-based institution that prioritizes moral conduct, transparency, and the spiritual well-being of its congregation.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7OPB7P3ddI
